More about Something Fantastic

We’re Something Fantastic - the team who brought The Woman in White, The Bridges of Madison County and Sunset Boulevard to Guildford stages. Our January 2027 Yvonne Arnaud Theatre production is the Jerry Herman & Michael Stewart beloved Broadway musical classic, Hello, Dolly!

If you’re an amateur looking to take your community theatre experience to the next level, or a professional who’d relish the chance to play a favourite role in an elevated community production, one with heart, Something Fantastic’s Hello, Dolly! could be for you!

Something Fantastic is a not-for-profit theatre group united by a shared love of performance and a belief that the arts belong to everyone. We create ambitious, joyful productions and experiences for our community, and donate 20% of our proceeds to local multiple sclerosis charity The Samson Centre.

Our professional creative team includes our co-founder, West-End Musical Director, Alex Parker:

“I grew up doing am-dram and I adore it! Through Something Fantastic, I’m so fortunate to be able to bring experience from my day job to community theatre in Guildford, for an involving project that’s more like a workshop and a West-End masterclass rolled into one than am-dram as we know it.”

Dolly Levi is a star vehicle role and is at the very heart of the show! Dolly is a matchmaker, meddler, and absolute force of nature; she sweeps into town, fixes everyone’s love life, and decides she deserves the biggest romance of all. Big personality. Bigger plans. And she’s not taking no for an answer.

Could you be our Dolly? While Dolly is an all-round singing, acting, dancing role, at our auditions the greatest performance will trump the greatest singer. Think of those legends who could hold the audience in the palm of their hands - Ethel Merman, Elaine Stritch, Imelda Staunton, Bette Midler. Charisma, timing and charm are at the core of what we are looking for.
